Moving to Prescott, Arizona, from Southern California in 1972 helped to create the atmosphere that John Coleman needed to fully engage in his dream of becoming an artist. Since many of the top Western artists in the country have resided in or near Prescott, it seemed like a logical move and proved to be what Coleman needed to keep his motivation growing.
Officially starting to engage with other artists in the early 1990s at various outdoor shows in the Southwest gave Coleman the encouragement he needed to forge ahead with his dream. It was through these shows that he attracted the attention of collectors and galleries, and the rest is history.
It is hard to imagine Coleman as anything but an accomplished artist in the fields of sculpture, painting and drawing. But over the past 30 years of his artistic career, he has also honed his skills as a leader, teacher, photographer, philosopher, coach and communicator.
Coleman continues to work on his book with Michael Clawson and hopes to have it published before the end of the year.
