Denis Milhomme is a landscape painter, using oil on board to give the viewer a detailed glimpse of nature’s beauty. Early childhood was spent in Massachusetts where he began his courtship with nature, enjoying the wooded landscape and nearby lake, it was natural to fall in love with the charm of the wilds. Milhomme was fortunate to have private lessons starting around the age of 10 and continued to study through numerous college courses and workshops with acclaimed artists well into his career.
The Western landscape is all inspiring with majestic mountains, canyons, rivers and lakes along with the vastness and vistas of the southwest desert. Milhomme has travelled extensively through these locations, planning and searching for those magical moments that move the soul. Through hard work and dedication, he has been able to carve out a career, grateful for the support and friendships he has enjoyed for over 40 years.
He has been privileged to achieve recognition from various organizations including Eiteljorg Museum’s Quest for the West Artist of Distinction Award in 2021, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum’s Small Works, Great Wonders Cynthia Post Memorial Award in 2018 and Arts for the Parks Best in Landscapes Award in 2006, the Franklin Mint Award of Merit in 1994 and the Regional Award in 1993.
